Thank you for taking the time to consider Lugo Mfg for your special fabrication project or service need. I'm Paul Lugo and my formal background is mechanical engineering. My early career started in 1978 with an oil field service company in Long Beach, Ca. named BJ Hughes. This resulted in gaining experience with a wide variety of truck and trailer mounted heavy duty components such as diesel engines, transmissions, PTO's, centrifugal and triplex pumps, hydraulics, 12V electrical, piping, and structural fabricating, along with truck air systems, suspensions, axles, tires and wheels.
In 1985 I started working in the auto transport industry with Williams Mfg in El Monte, Ca. who at that time was the west coast leader in the design and manufacturing of stinger style open carriers. Al Williams the owner was 72 years old when he hired me and at that time already had 50 years working in the industry. Al passed away at age 76 and Williams Mfg closed two years later. In the short time I worked for him I was very fortunate to have known him both as person and a mentor. The important structural and user friendly features that he developed are still the foundation of the equipment we build today.
In 1992 I opened Auto Transport Service in Fontana, Ca. and incorporated as Lugo Mfg. Inc in 1995. For the first 14 years we primarily focused on the repair and manufacturing of auto transporters. In 2006 as a result of a continuing downturn in the industry that started in 2000 it became apparent we needed to diversify. By the end of 2007 three new additions broadened our products and services.
First, in the area of manufacturing, we have co-ventured with SC Performance Marine out of Huntington Beach,
Ca. to design and build a highly specialized trailer for large offshore catamaran power boats. These boats average 40
to 50 feet in length and 11 to 12 feet in width. The trailer is a goose neck style, 53 feet in length, and has a platform
that hydraulically lifts the boat and tilts it on its side. With the boat in this position it is within legal width and height limits for over the road travel. This type of trailer is the result of taking the engineering expertise we have gained
from the auto transporters to develop a unique product for a completely different market.
Secondly, we have brought on board a journeyman diesel mechanic and a new shop supervisor who has extensive truck electrical experience. This has given us the ability to provide complete diesel repair services which will benefit our existing auto transport customers but also broadens our scope to provide diesel repair services to a much larger market.
Thirdly, we now actively engage in small custom and short run fabricating and painting projects. We have been taking on jobs that have nothing to do with our core customer base and are merely recognized as utilizing our core company skills. So whether it's a park bench or custom displays for a convention show, as long as it involves steel or aluminum we can and want to provide it.
Thank you again and I look forward to working on your special project.
